According to respected authors, therapists and spiritualists around the world, this phenomenon is occurring as a new 'Spiritual Awareness' is taking place and gaining momentum on our planet. As a race, people are evolving on a Spiritual level, with the number sequences being 'messages' from a Higher Source. Your angels (or spirit guides) guide you through your thoughts, feelings, words and visions. They also show you ‘signs’ - that is, things that you see repeatedly with your physical eyes. One of the signs is repetitive number sequences. http://sacredscribesangelnumbers.blogspot.com/p/what-are-angel-numbers.html
According to this interpreation this is the interpretation of hearing and seeing 8:08 in my dream..(and waking life mind you!)
ZERO 0
0 is the Alpha (beginning) and Omega (the highest) as there is no beginning and no end. All is infinite. The ancients proclaimed that the ‘God force’ is a circle whose centre is everywhere and its circumference is nowhere. ZERO is the number of the ‘God’ force and Universal Energies and reinforces, amplifies and magnifies the vibrations of the numbers it appears with. The number ZERO encompasses the attributes of all other numbers, and brings one closer to the ‘God force’ or ‘Source’. ZERO is the symbol of ‘nothingness’ and denotes freedom from limitations in this material world. The number ZERO resonates with the vibrations and energies of eternity, infinity, oneness, wholeness, continuing cycles and flow, and the beginning point. The number 0 stands for potential and/or choice, and when this number presents and recurs it is a message to do with developing one’s spiritual aspects as ZERO is considered to represent the beginning of a spiritual journey and highlights the uncertainties that may entail. It suggests that you listen to your intuition and higher-self as this is where you will find all of your answers.

- Symbol of the beginning.
- Symbolizes the potential or latent ideas, not yet expressed but which exist in virtual way, waiting only a divine intervention to exit the nothing and to emerge in the creation.
- Represent the origin of all thing and at the same time the limit to reach, the starting point and the point of arrival of a cycle - illustrating the paradoxical identity of the non-being and the plenitude to be it, according to Abellio. - Perfect number, expressing the totality, therefore the universe, according to the Low Mesopotamia.
Yet another interpretation is that put forth by Drunvalo Melchizedek:
888 = Completion of a particular lesson within the Mystery School.
Then the Hebrew/kabbalah interpretation of 8:0*
Eight, on the other hand, is symbolic of an entity that is one step above the natural order, higher than nature and its limitations. That's why Chanukah is eight days long—the greatly outnumbered Maccabees' resolve to battle the Greeks wasn't logical or natural. They drew on reservoirs of faith and courage that are not part of normative human nature. They therefore merited a miracle higher than nature – a miracle that lasted eight days – and to commemorate this, we light on Chanukah an eight-branched menorah (click here for the full story). In a similar vein, we circumcise our children when they are eight-day old babies, because the brit milah symbolizes our nation's supernatural and logic-defying covenant with G‑d.
